Local Cairns tour operators the Woodward Family CaPTA Group has been awarded a Golden Backpack Lifetime Achievement at the annual awards dinner in Sydney overnight.
The Golden Backpack Awards are the original and most established awards dedicated to the independent travel sector in Australia and New Zealand, celebrating the achievements of individuals and companies within the sector.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to those who have dedicated a number of years to the sector, including the development and continued growth of the industry as a whole, as well as found success within the sector.
Director of Sales & Marketing for The CaPTA Group Ben Woodward was in Sydney to accept the award on behalf of the company, which will celebrate 40 years in the industry in 2016.
“The Woodward family CaPTA Group has been a significant part of the Cairns tour industry for the last four decades, from our purchase of Rainforestation Nature Park in 1976 through to Cairns ZOOM & Wildlife Dome more recently,” he said.
“We have seen a number of highs and lows in the industry, but we have been lucky to always find success, and it’s an honour for the CaPTA Group to be recognised by the Golden Backpack Awards.”
Other local Cairns tour winners included Raging Thunder (Best Tour/Activity in Queensland), Adventure Cairns & Beyond (Best Small/Independent Travel Agent) and The Great Barrier Reef (Best Visitor Attraction Australia).
The CaPTA Group is locally owned and operated by the Woodward family of Cairns, consisting of Rainforestation Nature Park, Tropic Wings Coach Tours, Jungle Tours & Trekking, Wildlife Habitat, Cairns ZOOM and Wildlife Dome, Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, ABC Sales & Maintenance and Careers Training Centre.
